In order to loosen the tie rod, one should firstly loosen the lug nuts of the wheel, raise the car body, ensure safety on the jackstands, block the rear tires and park the brake and then remove the front wheel. Then remove the cotter pin of the castle nut and loosen the nut on the tie-rod end stud, but not remove it, and loosen the jam nut and note the position of the tie-rod end in reference to the threads. Pick the tie rod using locking pliers or a wrench to loosen jam nut so as to mark the position. Remember to loosen the tie rod by a puller and loosen the end of the tie rod using a screwdriver. To install, pass the tie-rod end to the identified location in the tie-rod and achieve the tie-rod stud into the

Install the castle nut on the stud and screw it to the divisions through the use of a new cotter pin and be certain that the hole resembles one of the slots in the nut; otherwise torque it further without loosening it. Lastly, attach the lug nuts and the wheel, then lower the car and screw the lug nuts until they fit to the required torque than have the car alignment inspected on by a dealer service department or an alignment shop.
