To remove the airbag assembly in 2005 and earlier models, first disconnect the negative battery cable then disconnect the airbag of the driver and take out the airbag assembly. The second step is to take out the steering wheel and the upper and lower covers of the steering column. Then remove the combination switch holding screws, unconnect the electrical connectors and slide the combination switch off the column. Installation: When installing ensure that the clockspring is centered by keeping the front wheels facing forward, rotate clockspring inner hub clockwise to its stop without pushing, then turn it 2-3/4 counterclockwise and align the marks on the housing and inner hub. Removal of the switch On 2006 and subsequent models, the steering column covers are removed, the electrical connector on the switch is disconnected, then the screws that hold the switch in place are removed to remove the switch. The process of installation is the opposite of removal.
