TP sensor which is on the throttle body is used in all the models. In 2005 and older models, the TP sensor is removable independently of the throttle body, whereas in 1996 to 2005-year models, it is also difficult to adjust without special factory tools, and therefore, it is not advisable to remove or replace the sensor at home. The TP sensor is not replaceable individually in 2006 and other later models that have an electronic throttle body; the throttle body as a whole is to be replaced in case of faultiness. In order to verify the sensor, unplug the electrical connector and place a 0.016-inch feeler gauge in between throttle stop screw and the stop lever. Check continuity between specified terminal pairs with an ohmmeter, with various procedures depending on the type of transmission depending on the model. In case continuity or resistance is not as set, adjust the TP sensor, without changing idle speed screw. To make the throttle valve adjust, close throttle valve, connect ohmmeter and loosen screws on TP sensor. To establish continuity and to ensure non-continuity with other feeler gauges, use specific feeler gauges in 1993 and earlier models, then repeat this operation but without disturbing the sensor and tightening the screws. On 1994 and 1995 models, ensure that the TPS is positioned so that it is in continuity with a 0.012-inch feeler gauge and out of continuity with a 0.016-inch gauge and screws are tightened. In case readjustments are not successful, remove the sensor and re-adjust accordingly.
