Mazda Spindle

The Mazda Spindle precisely rotates each front wheel while providing solid alignment to steering and suspension movement, enabling smoother control during any turn. Mazda is impressive because its lively SKYACTIV engines extract plenty of power from each drop of fuel as well as its KODO design, which creates metal in forms that look ready to leap ahead and its i-ACTIVSENSE features which watch the road for you. The manufacturer provides i-ACTIV all-wheel drive that optimizes grip on slick pave while new electric and mild hybrid offerings reveal Mazda's strong commitment to cleaner traveling without sacrificing the fun to drive spirit it forged during rotary fame. Mazda cars have interiors that use soft materials and clear gauges on the inside. They also have an infotainment setup that is very responsive. Hence, Mazda feels like a trusted companion on daily drives or weekend escapes. Shifting focus from the bigger picture to the hardware which keeps the ride stable, the Spindle is a robust metal link which bolts the steering knuckle to the wheel hub, supports the hub bearings and provides the opening through which both vertical suspension travel and horizontal steering input reach the tire. The Spindle holds the hub square and true, allowing the wheel to pivot freely when the tie rod moves the knuckle, reducing vibration and tire scrub. The hardened surfaces resist galling so the hub nut remains tight. Furthermore, if a collision scar is ever made, simply installing a new one provides a confident steering feel throughout the Mazda line.

You'll get great performance and real durability when you pick genuine OEM Spindle. Mazda Spindle Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How Are the Rear Spindle, Hub and Bearing Assembly, and Brake Components Removed and Installed on Mazda Protege?
    A:
In order to remove the drum brake models, first, loosen the lug nuts on the wheel and then raise the vehicle and securely support it on jackstands and remove the wheel. After that, remove the center hub cap, unstake the locknut and remove the hub locknut at the rear hub spindle. Take out the screws that hold the drum in place. Pull the brake drum from the hub. Next, pull the hub and bearing assembly from its seat through the brake assembly. To take off the brake assembly from the rear spindle without disassembling the brake shoe assembly or disconnecting the parking brake cable, detach the brake line and brake backing plate bolts. Using a piece of wire, suspend the brake assembly and the backing plate from the coil spring. For model 1995 and later, take the wheel speed sensor off its spindle mount. Using a jack to support the spindle, remove the suspension strut-to-spindle bolts, the nut and washer at the trailing arm-to-spindle, and the lateral strut-to-spindle bolt before removing the spindle. With models fitted with a disc brake, similar initial steps are followed as already discussed, which includes loosening the wheel lug nuts, raising the vehicle, and removing the wheel and center hub cap. First, unscrew the locknut at the rear hub spindle, and take off the hub locknut. Next, remove the brake caliper and brake disc. Do not disconnect the brake hose or remove the parking brake cable. Suspend the backing plate and brake assembly from the coil spring. Take the hub and bearing assembly out of its seat, and remove the dust cover if needed. For models produced in 1995 or after, the wheel speed sensor must be unbolted. Using a jack to support the spindle, remove the suspension strut-to-spindle bolts, followed by the trailing arm-to-spindle nut and washer, and the lateral strut-to-spindle bolt before removing the spindle. To install the drum brake models, first, check the spindle for damages and replace that if damaged. Now install the component by the reverse order of removal. Finally, make sure to replace any fasteners according to torque specifications. For disc brakes, reattach the wheel speed sensor if applicable. Finally, connect the brake line, install the rear brake drum, and attach the wheel and lug nuts before lowering the vehicle and tightening the lug nuts to specification. Check the spindle for disc brake models. Follow reverse order of removal for installation by tightening all fasteners to the specified torque values. Reconnect the wheel speed sensor if applicable Reset the dust cover, hub and bearing assembly. Then, locknut. Next, install the center hub cap, brake disc, brake caliper, finish with the installation of the wheel, and the tightening of the lug nuts to the correct torque.
