In case of replacement with fluid leakage, the replacement of calipers is considered as the best option other than overhauling them because the new and factory rebuilders on exchange basis are available and the whole process is simpler. Calipers should always be replaced in pairs. On a 2017 model, the Electric Parking Brake(EPB) must be turned off prior to the procedure, and turned on afterward, after replacing the calipers. To fit the calipers, loosen the lug nuts of the front wheel, raise the vehicle on jackstands and take off the wheel. In the majority of models, loosen the
Brake Hose connector without unscrewing it and scrap off the caliper mounting bolts, detach the caliper off the bracket and unscrew it off the brake hose, and reconnect the hose to avoid contamination and loss of fluids. In the case of 2005-2008 rear calipers, it can be done by unscrewing the brake hose banjo bolt, removing the hose, and retrieving the sealing washers then removing the mounting bolts. On front calipers, 2013 and later, unscrew (with a flare-nut wrench, if present) the brake hose fitting. 2013 and subsequent rear calipers, remove the
Parking Brake Cable. When the caliper is not needed to access another component, do not disconnect it, just support it with a wire. Take off the inner pad of brakes. Installation To install, follow the reversal steps being taken care not to cross the brake hose. Use new sealing washers and torque the banjo bolt to the correct torque in the case of 2005 to 2008 rear calipers. In case the hose was unscrewed, bleed the brake line and inspect it. Lastly, put the wheel, drop the car, screw the lug nuts, and press the brake pedal a few times so the brakes can be well-adjusted with the disc, and to examine the functionality of the brakes.
