Remove the battery cover and disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. For 2009 and earlier models, take off the driver's side scuff plate, kick panel, lower trim panel, decorative trim panel, and glove box. For 2010 and later models, remove the scuff plate, side kick panels, lower trim panels, knee bolster, glove box, center trim panel, and side center trim panel. Next, remove the radio and navigation unit if equipped, followed by the ashtray and center console. For models with automatic air conditioning, take out the heater/air conditioner control assembly retaining screws, use a small screwdriver to release the tabs on each side of the panel/control assembly, slide the unit forward, and disconnect the electrical connector. For models with manual air conditioning, remove the Passenger Junction Box, take out the heater/air conditioner control assembly cable mounting screws, disconnect the cable by depressing the tab on the airflow or air mix arm while sliding the coiled end of the cable off the arm, remove the retaining screws for the control assembly, release the retaining clips on each side of the control unit, carefully pull the control assembly forward, disconnect the electrical connectors, and remove the control unit and cables as an assembly from the instrument panel. Installation is the reverse of removal.
