The shift knob can be removed by unscrewing it to the shift lever assembly and then removing it. To install, reverse the procedure. To do this, you must first disconnect the cable with the negative battery terminal and allow at least two minutes to pass before proceeding. The second step is to take off the floor console indicator panel. Disconnect the interlock cable to the shift lever by lifting out the lock pin then disconnect the cable end of the lever and the cable housing of the lever base. Take the and slide the cable end off the shift assembly by pulling the catch at the bottom of the cable housing pushing it up and out of the bracket and slide the end of the cable off the lever. The shift assembly can be removed by disconnecting any electrical connectors at the shift assembly, and then removing the four mounting nuts to remove the shift assembly out of the floor. To install, undo the steps of removal, and make sure that when the shift cable has been disconnected there is an adjustment made.
