Mazda 6 Clutch Slave Cylinder

Mazda 6 Clutch Slave Cylinder provides drivers with smooth and reliable gear changes by changing hydraulic pressure into the movement that separates the clutch plates every time the pedal is pressed. Operating in concert with the clutch master cylinder, this tiny hydraulic system under pressure has a piston that moves outward, pushing a rod against the release lever so that the clutch disengages and the transmission can move to the next gear. The majority of late-model Mazda cars have substituted the large mechanical rods with this lighter hydraulic system that provides a predictable feel of the pedals and self-corrects minor wear. A broken Mazda Clutch Slave Cylinder can present itself with low fluid, visible leaks, or the spongy feeling of the pedal, and the owners should take action before the engagement of gears can be affected. Two types of layouts are presented in the history of the vehicle production, an external layout, which attaches to the outside of the bell housing and moves a separate throw out fork, and a concentric layout that fits around the input shaft of the transmission and presses directly on the release bearing. The concentric variant sheds both pounds and components, but requires the removal of the transmission to service, whereas the external style remains much more accessible, but adds additional linkage components. Whatever the style, every Mazda driver is relying on a healthy Clutch Slave Cylinder to continue shifting with precision, save the gearbox, and ensure outings are fun with the Mazda 6.

Mazda 6 Clutch Slave Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the Clutch Slave Cylinder on Mazda 6?
    A:
In order to take the Clutch Slave Cylinder off, firstly put the front up and place the vehicle on jackstands. The second step would be to remove the splash shield by unscrewing and un-push-pinning. Unscrew the hydraulic line at the Clutch Slave Cylinder with a flare-nut wrench, be sure to have a small can and rags to receive any spilled fluid; plug the line to avoid too much loss and pollution. Then take off the mounting bolts of the Clutch Slave Cylinder and then take off the cylinder. To install, just use your fingers at first and connect the hydraulic line fitting with the Clutch Slave Cylinder. When attached, apply the mounting bolts up to the recommended torque and attach the hydraulic fitting using a flare-nut wrench. Test the fluorid content of the brake fluid reservoir, pouring in brake fluid which conforms to the specifications of DOT 3 until the right level is reached, and then drain the fluid system after which the level of the brake fluid should be checked again.
