It is a precaution to 2.5L engines since it uses components of two separate manufacturers which cannot be interchanged; the 8 th digit in VIN indicates the manufacturer with VIN A components manufactured in Mexico and VIN H components manufactured in Hiroshima. Periodic change of oil is important in preventive maintenance because as an engine ages, oil becomes dilute and polluted, causing wearing off the engine. Before beginning, make sure you have all the necessary tools necessary, as well as rags or newspapers to lift spills. An oil drain plug and filter are more easily accessed by lifting the vehicle on a hoist or ramps. Provided one is not very familiar with the vehicle, then find the oil drain plug, the oil filter, but be careful of the hot exhaust parts. Turn the engine on to heat up the oil so that it can be easily drained and then park on a flat surface, and take off the oil filler cap. Put the vehicle on jackstands and take off the lower engine cover. Place a drain pan below the drain plug of oil, and carefully take away the plug without burning the oil, and check the old oil on the presence of metal particles. Once emptied, remove the drain plug and wash the part and then install and screw the drain plug back. In the case of cartridge type filters, place the drain pan beneath the oil filter cover, tighten the drain plug and the cover, and drain the oil that is in the filter housing. Before installation, remove the old filter and cover, clean the mounting surface and make sure that the new filter is equivalent to the old filter. In the case of spin-on filters, you should place the drain pan, loosen the filter, and remove it but tilted to avoid spills. Wipe the surface on which the filter is mounted, match filters, lubricate the gasket of the new filter, and place it without overtightening. After taking off tools below the car, pour in four quarts of fresh oil, check the level and then start the engine to confirm that it is not leaking. Check the level of oil after a few minutes and pour oil when required. Check the leakages and the oil levels in the initial few trips after the change. Properly discard the old oil and do not re-use it and improperly dispose of it and also enquire about possibilities of recycling the old oil in the local facilities.
