In order to take out and replace the fan shroud, start with removing it when necessary. In engines which have a separate harmonic balancer, loosen the retaining bolts and part the harmonic balancer and vibration damper. The second step is to take the retaining bolt of the vibration damper/harmonic balancer off the crankshaft end. Take out the damper/harmonic balancer with a puller out of the crankshaft. When installing, make sure that the key slot on the harmonic balancer hub is aligned with the crankshaft key and then repeat the reversal sequence of the assembly attaching the retaining bolts with the required torque.
