Mazda Balance Shaft Chain

The Mazda Balance Shaft Chain counter-rotates shafts perfectly timed to the crankshaft to reduce engine vibration, giving drivers smoother acceleration and less cabin shake. Mazda established its fame of building sporty cars with signature rotary breakthrough. Today, it backs that spirit with SKYACTIV engines that squeeze more grunt out of every drop of fuel with low emissions. Mazda has made every line stylishly KODO to give the feel of motion and possibility even when they are standing still. Available i-ACTIV all-wheel drive and i-ACTIVSENSE safety tech add even more grip and confidence for your daily commute or weekend adventure. Mazda has achieved lightweight engineering, intuitive cabin functionality, and the availability of electric and mild hybrid options, demonstrating a fun yet responsible approach. Global tests on ice, scorching deserts, and wiggle trails must handle extremes. Infotainment keeps playlist and navigation a tap away. The electric power assist system is carefully calibrated to provide a direct feel to every steering input. The low center of gravity of the car makes parking lots and mountain roads equally engaging. Within the composition, the Balance Shaft Chain serves as a safeguarding element that keeps refinement and outputs noise. The drive chain permits utilization of precision forged sprockets and low friction rollers. This helps cut parasitic loss which yields marginal gains in efficiency. As it functions, it accomplishes all of this without adding weight and complexity. Due to the fact that it is mechanically fixed rather than electronically managed, the Mazda Balance Shaft Chain works instantly from idle to redline, complementing suspension tuning and sound insulation to create the relaxed ride buyers expect across the brand family.

You'll get great performance and real durability when you pick genuine OEM Balance Shaft Chain. Mazda builds these using high-quality materials and official factory methods to ensure they hold up mile after mile. You deserve that Mazda reliability without the headache of cheap knockoffs. Mazda Balance Shaft Chain Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How can the tension of a loose balance shaft chain be adjusted without removing the Balance Shaft Gear cover on Mazda MPV?
    A:
In the case of possible excessive noise caused by a loose Balance Shaft Gear, tension needs to be adjusted even without taking off the timing chain cover. Start by putting the number one cylinder at top dead center and unhooking the cable off the negative end of the battery. Open the valve cover and oil pan and then remove the large bolt in the front of the crankshaft and slip the pulley off, trying to keep the crankshaft still using a screwdriver as required. Then, take off the cooling fan, water pump, alternator and bracket on the timing chain cover and the bolts that joined the timing chain cover and the engine block, prepare a diagram where they are located and remove them. Break the seal of the gasket using a soft-faced hammer on the timing chain cover to remove the gasket carefully to avoid damaging the gasket faces. Take the chain guides that are marked A, B, C and take note of where they are bolted. Re-fit the large bolt in the crankshaft to secure it and loosen the bolts on the Balance Shaft Gear and the oil pump shaft. As a unit, lift off the engine crankshaft sprocket and the Balance Shaft Gear, being careful not to drop the keys that index the sprockets. Check the Balance Shaft Gear, guides, and sprockets; worn or damaged parts should be changed. Prior to reinstallation, make sure that a timing chain is correctly installed and Number One piston is at TDC on the compression stroke and has the Balance Shaft Gear and oil pump attached. Install the Balance Shaft Gear, slide the crankshaft sprocket onto the crankshaft and align the chain with the marks on the sprocket. Install sprockets to the maximum extent on their shafts, remake the alignment and fix the Balance Shaft Gear bolts. Wipe the chain and guides with molybdenum-based grease, assemble the chain guides, set the chain slack by turning the Balance Shaft Gear so that the slack accumulates at a specific position and make sure that the space between the chain and the guides is not too small. Check and tighten the mounting bolts of the guides. Install a new crankshaft front oil seal into the timing chain cover and install a new gasket with sealant to install the cover to the engine, appropriately bolting the cover. Prepare the seal contact surface of the crankshaft pulley with grease, slide it onto the crankshaft and fasten the bolt fingertight. Lastly, reassemble in the same sequence as the order in which they were disassembled, making sure that after attaching the camshaft sprocket to the camshaft, a new access cover gasket is used.
