During each tune-up or check, physically inspect the spark plug cables to confirm that they are free of burns, cuts, or insulation tear, and examine the boots and nipples of the
Distributor Cap or coil and replace any damaged wiring. The resistance of the wires used should be checked after every 60,000 miles (96,000 Km) or 60 months, with an ohmmeter, because too much resistance causes misfiring, and the engine is then difficult to start during wet weather; values should not exceed 16 kohms per 3.28 ft. (1 m) and resistive wires that do not conform should be replaced. To remove, use the handle of the plug wires and twist a little and pull straight up and put the spark plug wires back, one at a time, in a manner that will not cause confusion, the longest cable being put in first, and the wire runs the same way as it was originally. In the case of the Millenia S Models that have a 2.3L engine with the use of each spark plug being individually coiled, there are no plug wire to check or replace.
