With older models (1993 and older) start by doing ignition system tests, by cranking the engine until a good blue spark is seen at the coil or spark plug wire and resistance with the ohmmeter of both the primary and secondary coil windings. In models between 1994 and 2000, conduct ignition system test and the measurement of secondary coil winding resistance because primary winding resistance is not measured. In models between 2001 and 2005, do ignition checks, disassemble the coil and check the secondary resistance between the high tension terminals, replacing the coil in case the resistance is out of range. In 2006 and subsequent models, perform ignition tests, unplug the electrical connector on the ignition coil, and test the resistance between the terminals, and change the coil in case the result is zero ohms or infinite. In replacing, disconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal on 2000 and older models and unplug the electrical connectors, label, disconnect the spark plug wires, remove the coil assembly, and install properly. In models between 2001 and 2005, disconnect electrical connector and spark plug wire boot, no coil mounting bolt is present so, reverse the process of removal by installing the same at the same point. In more recent models (since 2006), unconnection of the electrical connector, de-bolstering of the coil mounting, and the reverse process will be performed during installation.
