In the case of V6 engine, start with the valve cover of the faulty sensor, remove it. Then, remove the wiring harness to the solenoid that is on the top of each valve cover and which is used to adjust the variable camshaft timing. Thereafter, loosen the mounting bolt(s), and then loosen the sensor, and the reverse of this is installation. In the case of the four-cylinder engines that include the 1.5L and the 1.6L engines, begin with the removal of the engine cover. Detach removable bolt and stud connecting air intake to the valve cover and push them aside on the 1.6L models, and then disconnect the crank case vent tube to the valve cover and intake manifold and remove it. Install the solenoids that control the VCT oil at the front of the valve cover, unscrew the solenoid electrical connector, and undo the bolt to remove the solenoid out of the cylinder head, installation being the inverse of removal. In the case of the 2.0L and 2.5L models, remove the valve cover and identify the VCT oil control solenoids in the front of the cylinder head with the 2.0L models having two solenoids, and the 2.5L models having a single solenoid. Lastly, loosen the bolt and pull out the solenoid in the cylinder head, and the opposite is true.
