To carry out pump testing, disconnect the HCU pump motor electrical plug first, and then connect a Digital volt Ohm meter (DVOM) to the two pump terminals and record the value, which should be between 52-68 Ohms; otherwise, the pump motor should be replaced. To remove and install, disconnect the battery ground cable first, then the 8-pin connector in the unit and the 4-pin connector in the pump motor. The next step is to unplug the 5 inlet and outlet lubes on the unit and be sure to seal the ports immediately. Peel off the 3 unit attaching nuts and pick out the unit, and to install the unit the same way as to pick off. Tighten the mounting nuts to 12-18 ft. lbs. and the lube fittings to 10-18 ft. lbs. Once reattached to the battery, it can be 10 miles or so of driving before the Powertrain Control Module relearns its drive ability codes, and it should be remembered to bleed the brakes.
