To remove and install the main switches, carefully pry them out of the dash panel using a thin-tipped screwdriver, taking care not to damage the dash trim. Reinstall the switches by pushing them back into position until they snap into place. For checking, unplug the electrical connectors from the switches and test for continuity between the indicated terminals; replace any switch that fails the continuity checks. There are two types of A/C Switch: the manually operated wire type and the electrically controlled logic type. To remove the A/C Switch, first take off the interior trim lower panels and undercover, then the steering column under cover, followed by the instrument cluster, nuts, washers, and switch cover panel, and finally the center lower panel. For the wire type control, disconnect the RECFRESH wire at the heater unit. Remove the screws holding the control assembly in place and then take out the assembly, disconnecting the electrical connector for the logic type. Installation follows the reverse order of removal. To check the wire type, manually move the levers and observe the movement of the attached air door mechanisms; the logic type requires more complex testing and should be handled by a qualified repair shop.
