Mazda MPV A/C Compressor

The Mazda MPV A/C Compressor is the body organ that powers all the functions of the climate system, causing refrigerant to pass through a pressure loop that transforms warm cabin air into a cool breeze. Starting at the inlet end, the unit pushes low-pressure vapor into a high-pressure, high-temperature gas; heat is expelled from the refrigerant as it passes to the condenser, and the cooled fluid is pumped through the evaporator where it absorbs cabin warmth and the cycle is repeated, providing constant interior comfort even on the hot summer afternoons. The model years have seen two refrigerant configurations. The initial production was based on R12, which is compatible with mineral oil, but by the latter half of the nineties some models constructed since then applied the cleaner R134a, which requires synthetic lubricant. The refrigerant sticker under the hood allows the owners of vans manufactured by Mazda to notice the change quickly. Each design must have an appropriate compressor design due to the difference in seals and oils; however, both use the same core pumping design involving the alternation of the refrigerant between gaseous and liquid forms. The right choice of A/C Compressor version will maintain the integrity of the system and will protect against leaks or insufficient airflow. To ensure that the vehicle is a correct fit, shoppers can check the vehicle build date and refrigerant label, and compare these values with the compressor model number that is specified somewhere. The A/C Compressor is expected to ensure that temperature control, fuel economy, and fun in driving remain sharp, stable, and high respectively when it is working well in maintaining the Mazda family ride. Stable performance of this element is still an important feature of the long-term value of any Mazda and still makes the MPV line stand out.

Mazda MPV A/C Compressor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: Should the A/C Compressor be replaced whenever the receiver drier is replaced on Mazda MPV?
    A:
Replacement should also occur in the receiver drier in case of replacement of the A/C Compressor. Start by emptying the system and deconnection of the negative battery cable. Take off the fresh air duct on the top part of the Radiator and loosen the idler pulley adjusting bolt and lockout to loosen the A/C Compressor drive belt and remove this belt. Unhook the electrical connector on the A/C Compressor clutch and the refrigerant lines taking care of plugging them after discharging the refrigerant system properly. Disassembly Unscrew the A/C Compressor on the mounting brackets by taking off the four screws. Installation of a new A/C Compressor: I would do as advised by the manufacturer, before installing the A/C Compressor drain the excess oil and transfer the clutch to the new A/C Compressor, where applicable. Installation is a process opposite to remove; change all the O-rings with those that are compatible with air conditioning systems and grease them with refrigerant oil. Last, empty, refill and leak test the system at the shop that emptied the system.
