Removal of the rear wheels; loosen the lug nuts on the rear of the vehicle, lift the rear of the vehicle and place it on jackstands which will help to make the seat of the vehicle stable. Put a floor jack under the differential to support the axle housing, and, on Automatic Load Leveling, remove the air line fitting, attached to the
Shock Absorbers. Unscrew the lower end of the Panhard rod of the axle housing and the lower ends of the shock absorbers of the axle. Chain the coils springs to the axle to stop them flying off during the lowering of the axle and provide ample slackness in the chain allowing the coil springs to open up to maximum length. Slowly lower the jack keeping the axle in place until all tension is released and then took off the coil springs. Check the bump stoppers and spring seats at both ends of each coil spring with any broken or deformed bump stoppers being changed. Examine the springs to ensure they are not broken, nicked, or cracked and replace those that are of such nature. To install, make sure that the coil springs are installed correctly with the ends of the larger diameter coils facing downwards, one should loop the safety chains through the springs and then carefully use the jack to raise the axle back into position. The last part of the installation is the same sequence as that of the removal, but in reverse.
