How to remove and install the Air Filter Box on Mazda MX-5 Miata?

In the case of 2005 and earlier models, loosen the clamps of the inlet and outlet ducts and disattach the resonance tubes to the air filter box. Dislodge the electrical connector of the mass airflow sensor, and loosen the several attaching bolts, then withdraw the cleaner assembly comprising the air cleaner in the engine compartment. Installation is viewed in the opposite sequence of extraction. In 2006 and later models, unscrew the hose clamp and detach the air intake duct of the air filter box cover. Unscrew the air filter box cover, and remove it and the air filter element, and the two mounting nuts of the filter box. Take the locator pin out of its insulator grommet to take away the filter box. Check whether the insulator grommet has any cracks, tears or deterioration and change it where necessary. Installation is completed in the opposite order of uninstallation.
