To remove the transaxle, first disconnect the battery cables and remove the battery and tray. Engage the parking brake, loosen the lug nuts on the front wheel, raise the vehicle securely on jackstands, and remove the wheels and splash shields. Draining transaxle lubricant and separating driveaxles from transaxle and supporting them with wire or rope if not fully removed. Take off the stabiliser bar, disconnect speedometer cable and shift selector cables, and unplug Neutral start switch and solenoid valve connectors. Make a marking on the casing of the throttle cable for reinstallation. Remove the clamps for any cable or wire harness. Using a hoist or jack, support the engine and then remove the engine support subframe and front exhaust pipe assembly. If applicable, remove engine/transaxle stiffener and engine mounts, disconnect transaxle oil cooler hoses and support transaxle with jack. Remove the inspection cover for the torque converter and mark the relationship between the torque converter and drive plate before removing the engine-to-transaxle bolts. After disconnecting all wires and hoses, lower the engine and roll the transaxle out from under the vehicle. For the installation process, the torque converter should be engaged in the transaxle, raised into position, and dowel pins aligned. To install the transaxle bolts, rotate the torque converter to line it up with the bolt holes. Reinstall the torque converter inspection cover. Reconnect oil cooler hoses, fit engine mounts, and installing front exhaust pipe assembly. Reinstall the engine support subframe, remove the support jack, reinstall any clamps from the cable or wire harness. Reconnect the throttle cable, adjust the Neutral start switch and solenoid valve connectors, shift cable, and speedometer cable, and reinstall the stabilizer bar. Connect the driveaxles, place the starter, wheels and lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts. Refill the transaxle with fluid, reattach the intake air hose and resonance chamber components, and reattach the battery cables prior to subjecting the vehicle to a road test for operation and leak checks.
