On the 2004 and earlier models, the first step would be to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery and position the parking brake by straightening the front wheels. Detaching the steering column takes a clockspring, electrical connector and removal of the retaining screws and the multi-function switch, installation is the opposite of disassembly. In the case of the windshield wiper/washer switch, you have to disconnect the negative battery cable, operation of the parking brake, the key lock cylinder and steering column covers, electrical connector and the retaining screws to remove the switch and in the case of installing it, in reverse. Once the battery is reconnected, the Powertrain Control Module has to do an idle and fuel trim re-strategy to maximize its performance. In 2005 to 2012 model, disconnect the negative battery terminal, point the front wheels directly forward, detach the steering wheel and tilts the steering column downwards. Unbolster the steering column covers, tape the clockspring in case of reinstalling the same clockspring (2005-2007 models), and unscrew clockspring mounting screws (where applicable). Disassemble the wiring and take off the multi-function switch screws, then disassemble the wiring and take off the switch, and then make sure that there is proper alignment of the clockspring when in place. In models of 2013 or later, unscrew the steering column covers, unscrew the retaining screws, press the release tabs, and pull the switch out, and the reverse manipulation to install.
