The wires of
Spark Plugs are to be checked at suggested intervals or when new spark plugs are being fitted. Start with the visual inspection of the wires when the engine is running in a dark place, the flashlight should be used to look at every plug wire without touching the moving components. You should wiggle each wire with an insulated object, provided there is an arc or a little spark of blue this means there is a break. Because the voltage across the secondary rises as the engine speed increases, test again to determine whether arcing occurs by causing an assistant to increase the engine speed to say 2000 rpm. When the engine is turned off, check the wires one at a time to ensure that the engine functions in the correct order by ensuring that you remove the wire first attached to the
Ignition Coil pack by pulling at the boot only. Upon disconnection, examine the inside of the boot with regard to corrosion that is represented by a white crusty powder. Reconnect the wire to the spark plug, making sure it fits well, and crimp the metal connector in the boot with pliers, as needed. Repeat with the ignition coil terminal. Clean all wires, getting rid of dirt and grease as well as checking them to see if they are damaged, and bend the wires to verify the state of the conducting substance on the inside. In case new wires are required, buy a complete set and install them one at a time to prevent confusion of the firing order so that the wire is firmly in place on the coils and spark plugs. Lastly, insert the new spark plug wire on the spark plug and ignition coil pack, with a twisting motion, and fasten the wires with retaining clips on the valve cover.
