In the year 2012 and older models that are powered by a four-cylinder engine of 2.0L, the first step is to disconnect the cable of the negative battery terminal and the second step is to take the exhaust manifold off. Find the CKP sensor at the front of the engine by the flywheel and disconnect the electrical connector of the sensor and unscrew the mounting bolt and remove the sensor. The opposite of removal is the installation, which should be tightened with the required torque by the mounting bolt. Upon reconnecting the battery, the Powertrain Control Module will have to relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy to give the best performance. In the case of V6 models, the negative battery terminal is to be disconnected, the lug nuts on the right front wheel are to be loosened, the vehicle is to be placed on jackstands and the right front wheel and the lower right splash shield are to be removed. The CKP sensor is found close to the crankshaft pulley; pull off the electrical connector, the mounting bolt and the sensor. The process of reinstallation happens in the opposite order and the PCM has to relearn again once they are connected to the battery. The CKP sensor has to be replaced with a new one when it has to be removed in the case of the 2.3L four-cylinder engine because a special alignment tool is supplied with the new sensor. Unscrew the negative battery terminal, find the CKP sensor beside the crankshaft pulley, separate its electrical connector and find TDC before unscrewing its mounting bolts. Installation of the new sensor can be performed with the help of the alignment tool, and the bolts should be tightened. To do it in 2013 and subsequent models, place the vehicle on jackstands, take the engine undercover and the inner splash shield of the passenger off, then find the electrical connector of the CKP sensor, disconnect it, remove the bolt and the sensor. Installation 1.5L, 1.6L is in the reverse of the removal and the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure then is done with a scan tool. In 2.0L and 2.5L models, the cylinder block hex plug should be removed, and a timing peg special tool should be inserted and rotate the engine to TDC. Install CKP sensor and screw the bolts tight with fingers and apply the CKP alignment tool and then apply the electrical connector followed by the reconnection with the hex plug. The rest of the installation will be in reverse sequence with the final being Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction.
