Mazda Tribute Cabin Air Filter

Mazda Tribute Cabin Air Filter serves as the first line of defense for the SUV, cleaning air that flows through the vehicle to allow occupants to inhale clean air full of life and ensuring the HVAC system operates effectively. It is installed in the outside air intake of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning pathway, with a pleated paper element that captures dust, pollen, leaf debris and even exhaust gases from the surrounding traffic before the blower pushes the air through the vents. There have been two filter shapes over the years, with one being an early style rectangular shape that looks like an engine element and the other a contour-shaped design that is intended to fit the Tribute cowl housing. They both use folded-media layers to enhance surface area, but the custom profile closes better and prevents bypass leakage, providing more pleasing airflow in newer Mazda cabins. A clogged filter can result in occupants experiencing musty air and low fan airflow, and the HVAC motor can be forced to work harder, potentially reducing the life of its components. Changing the Cabin Air Filter at the mileage or time shown in the owner's manual, or earlier if you drive on dusty back roads, maintains air quality. Checks are easy, and no special equipment is needed, which will ensure your Mazda is comfortable throughout the year. If there is a decrease in airflow or the lingering of odd odors, change the Cabin Air Filter to achieve optimal ventilation performance. This will not only protect the passengers, it will also guard the evaporator against debris accumulation and save fuel because the HVAC system can operate at lower fan speeds, something every Mazda driver will love.

Mazda Tribute Cabin Air Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to install a cabin air filter, and what are the steps on Mazda Tribute?
    A:
Other 2005 to 2012 models were not originally fitted with a cabin air filter, but it can be fitted by following a certain procedure, whereas older models prior to 2004 have no provision of fitting. In 2005-2012 models, the process starts by first removing the right-side cowl cover and vent tray followed by the removal of the cabin air filter element, and the procedure is the same as it is during installation. On models that are 2013 and above, it is best to begin by removing instrument panel insulator retainers and drawing the insulator of the instrument panel. The second step is to take off the screw that holds the cabin air filter cover, and then press the filter cover to take off the tabs and remove the cabin air filter cover. Take off the cabin filter keeping a record of which way the air flow arrows run on the cabin filter and when fitting, do the opposite, making sure that the filter is installed correctly with the air flow arrows facing forward of the car.
