Mazda Tribute Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator on Mazda Tribute?
    A:
Only vehicles from 2008 and earlier are affected by this procedure, as newer models do not utilize a fuel pressure regulator. Begin by releasing the pressure on the fuel system. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal next. Detach the Throttle Body on V6 models. Remove the vacuum pipe from the pressure regulator. For all four-cylinder models, remove the two bolts retaining the pressure regulator from the Fuel Rail, after which the regulator will be removed. On V6 models, remove the snap-ring of the fuel pressure regulator and pull the regulator out. Ensure that the old O-ring is removed and discarded before installing the new fuel pressure regulator. Install a new O-ring on the regulator if you are not reusing the old one. Installation is the reverse of removal. On four-cylinder models, the pressure regulator bolts must be tightened to the specified torque. A battery reconnection will make the Powertrain Control Module re-learn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimal driveability performance. Finally, start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
