To take off the
Valve Cover, unscrew the two bolts that join the cylinder head and timing chain cover, next remove the oil pan and the oil pickup tube and screen out of the oil pump and block. Then remove the timing chain cover then remove the oil pump, an impact screwdriver may be used to remove the screwdriver of the pump cover without risking to strip the screwdriver. To inspect, ensure the clearances of oil pumps on the inner and outer rotors are within the limits of a feeler gauge and straightedge and replace the pump when any of the measurements is out of range. Removal of the spring and oil pump relief valve out of the pump housing, measure the free length of the oil pressure relief valve spring using a vernier caliper, and change it in case the length was not as per specifications. Installation During installation, position the rotors with the dimples towards the pump cover and fit the pump cover using screws tightened with the appropriate level of torque and reconnect the oil pressure relief valve and spring assembly. Install the timing chain cover, the oil pickup tube and screen with a new gasket and then attach the bolts to the required torque and lastly the oil pan should be reassembled. Finish by pouring in the right kind and amount of oil and coolant and starting the engine and inspecting leaks.
