Before proceeding, ensure the A/C system is discharged by a dealer service department or an automotive A/C shop. For 2007 and earlier models, disconnect the A/C pressure cycling switch electrical connector, then disconnect the condenser line from the A/C accumulator using a special spring lock coupling tool, capping the line to prevent contamination and discarding the old O-ring. Next, disconnect the line from the A/C accumulator to the evaporator, cap it, and discard the old O-ring. Remove the accumulator mounting bracket nuts and take out the A/C accumulator, replacing all old O-rings with new ones coated in refrigerant oil before installation, which is the reverse of removal. Finally, take the vehicle back to the shop for evacuation and recharging. For 2008 and later models (except 2013 and later 2.5L and 1.6L engines), remove the front bumper cover, then on 1.5L models, remove the cooling module and condenser. Disconnect the refrigerant outlet line from the condenser, discard the gasket and seal, and disconnect the wiring from the top of the receiver/drier. Detach the outlet line from the receiver/drier and remove the mounting fasteners to take out the receiver/drier, replacing the O-rings, gasket, and seal with refrigerant oil before installation, which is the reverse of removal. For 2013 and later 1.6L and 2.5L engines, raise the vehicle securely, remove the front bumper cover, and unbolt the lower cooling module arm fasteners and lower radiator crossmember. Remove the threaded plug at the bottom left of the condenser-mounted receiver/drier, push the drier plug upwards, and use a small screwdriver to remove the retaining ring. Install an M5 bolt in the center of the receiver drier plug to pull it out, then use a 90-degree angle pick or needle nose pliers to extract the desiccant bag. Insert a new element into the receiver-drier, install the plug securely, and lubricate all A/C line fittings and O-rings with refrigerant oil during installation. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
