The manufacturer suggests that all fasteners should be changed with new ones at the time of installation. The components are to be removed in the sequence of loosening the wheel lug nuts, lifting the vehicle and placing it on jack stands to ensure that it is steady then removing the wheel and splash shields. The second step is to unbolt the brake hose bracket off the strut, unbolt the ABS speed sensor and unbolt the wiring harness with the clamp bracket bolt. Disconnect the stabilizer bar attachment of the strut, loosening the nut with an Allen wrench but holding on the ball stud in case it rotates. Un screw the tie-rod end off the steering knuckle, but in 2010 and later, the windshield wiper arm and cowl assembly will need to be removed to get to the stiffener bracket. To fit, simply direct the assembly into the fender well, line up the marks made earlier, and make the upper mounting bolts thread through the stiffener holes into the body and snap them in place as the strut does not need much force to fall into place preferably with some assistance because of the weight and awkward nature of the strut. Insert shock body in the steering knuckle and fix a new pinch-bolt without tightening it. Align the steering knuckle by jacking up to a normal ride height, and clamping the pinch-bolt. Attach the stabilizer bar connector to the shock absorber and attach the nut to a given torque. The rest of the setup is the opposite of the dismantling. Lastly, install the wheel and lug nut, lower the vehicle and screw the lug nuts to the right amount of torque then screw the upper mounting nuts as well to the correct amount of torque. Take the vehicle to an alignment garage and ensure a check is carried on the front-end alignment and the vehicle adjusted accordingly.
