In order to be able to pull out the valve cover, you should first disconnect the negative battery cable and then detach the assemblies of individual ignition coils of the spark plugs. Then remove the electrical connectors of oil control valve, cylinder head temperature sensor and camshaft position sensor. Unscrew the wiring harness attachment on the valve cover stud and put the harness aside, then unscrew the engine oil dipstick. Successively loosen the valve cover with its retaining fasteners, observing captive spacer sleeve and rubber seal and remove the cover. Take off the cover gasket, changing it every time it is disturbed, and ensure that the sealing faces are in condition with rubber seals in place over the bolts, changing any damaged or worn seals. To install, clean up the cover and the face of the cylinder head gasket, install a new gasket into the valve cover, making sure that the rubber seals and spacer sleeves are in the correct locations. Place a dot of RTV sealant at the engine at the joints between valve cover and timing cover. Fit the bubble to the cylinder head in which the gasket should be in position as the cover is tightened. Install the bolts of the cover in a diagonal order starting at the center then tighten them by hand and finally to the required torque. Lastly, reconnect battery, switch on the engine and look at evidence of oil leakage.
